Overview
URGENT – Our Client is completing a Tender for Services – Expression of interests must be received by XXX. Applicants invited with a minimum of 20 years oil and gas industry experience with extensive operational experience. Management capabilities are advantageous. This is an 18 month tax free contract.

Our Client, a Consulting Services Company specialising in Upstream Oil and Gas seeks a Subject Matter Expert to work for their Oil Operator Client. The consultant will proactively provide technical and operational support to maximize the value from Operator’s artificial lift systems. Specifically, this leads to ESP selection and optimisation and the utilisation of gas lift to maintain and enhance e production.

Furthermore, it is expected the Artificial Lift Specialist provides coaching to developing professionals including site visits for operations onshore and offshore and onsite troubleshooting. The artificial lift specialist will provide corporate design and operating guidelines, drive a step change in artificial lift performance, develop monitoring and troubleshooting standards, lead the community of practice and develop Operator’s professionals.
 
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: The candidate will provide consultancy services in the following areas:
  • General:
    • Artificial lift technical and operational support
    • Provide design and operating guidelines
    • Develop tracking tools to drive performance management of artificial lift systems
    • Develop organizational capability through focused staff development and the artificial lift community of practice

  • Scope Of Work
    • Artificial Lift Operations Management
    • Provide design and operating guidelines including guidance on the appropriate artificial lift design software packages
    • Drive a step change in the daily monitoring and operations of artificial lift systems (Gas Lift and ESP’s)
    • Develop new fit-for-purpose monitoring tools and processes to deliver the greatest value from the artificially lifted well stock
    • Identify and promote the implementation of artificial lift optimization opportunities within the reservoir operating guidelines
    • Performance manage artificial lift optimization opportunities through the generation of an options register to record and track action progress
    • Support the development of digital artificial lift performance tracking tools that identify and proactively intervene to maximise production
    • Confirm new artificial lift installations are being operated as per design and proactively solve any discrepancy
    • Support enhancements to artificial lift designs based on operational track record and through continuous improvement
    • Provide required artificial lift technical and operation support
    • Review the technical capabilities of service companies
    • Participate and evaluate new technologies, tools or techniques and decide on their applicability and added value
    • Introduce rig-less solutions and consider technologies for single and dual completions challenges


  • System Optimisation
    • Maintain artificial lifted wells and the overall system flowing at optimum conditions through an influencing role working with cross-discipline colleagues to achieve system optimization
    • Liaise with the appropriate assets to promote the identification and implementation of debottlenecking opportunities associated with the artificial lift system

  • People development
    • Schedule and facilitate monthly community of practice meetings
    • Coach and train less experienced staff including design, on-the-job troubleshooting, field site visits and vendor DIFA inspections
    • Organize knowledge sharing sessions with all assets to outline Operator’s artificial lift strategy, future plans (number of wells, estimated liquid production and energy consumption), field conditions, new technologies, etc.

  • Project Deliverables
    • Following is a summary of the project deliverables for the estimated 18 months project duration. Several phased stages are outlined with associated deliverables:
    • Design and operating guidelines
    • Fit-for-purpose monitoring tools and processes to deliver the greatest value from the artificially lifted well stock:
    • #Generation of an options register to record and track action progress
    • #Digital artificial lift performance tracking tools that identify and proactively intervene to maximise production
    • Written technical report and presentation highlighting Operator’s artificial lift strategy and the
    • capabilities of service companies to deliver technologies including rigless artificial lift solutions
    • Monthly community of practice meetings
    • Coach and train less experienced staff including design, on-the-job troubleshooting, field site visits and vendor DIFA inspections
    • Organize knowledge sharing sessions with all assets to outline Operator’s artificial lift strategy, future plans (number of wells, estimated liquid production and energy consumption), field conditions, new technologies, etc
 
Preferences
The successful candidate will have:
  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent essential. MSc or higher desired.
  • 20+ years of oil and gas experience essential – with a strong background in Artificial Lift.
  • Experienced in developing best practices and standards for artificial lift strategies desired.
  • Hands on experience in the explicit domain of Artificial Lift
  • Management experience desired.
  • Previous experience coaching/mentoring more junior staff highly desired. Strong technical skillset essential.
  • History of capability and capacity development (people) highly desired.
  • Current view of the vendor Marketplace and associated R & D efforts desired.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with Oil Operator Engineers.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills is a must.
  • Previous experience working Middle East assets desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills –ability to relay technical knowledge and concepts in a coherent and friendly manner.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English essential. Arabic advantageous
 
Other Information
Package: This is an 18 month Tax Free contract (300 working days approx.). Please consider this when advising of your Day Rate. The Company will organise Visa’s etc. Accommodation and travel will be added on top of your Day Rate so please do not include in your expected Day Rate.
