A leading global Services and Technology Company in the Oil and Gas industry seeks a Technical Consultant to provide support and consultancy to customers across Europe in the use of the Company’s Reservoir Engineering software suite. Applicants invited with a reservoir modelling or/and reservoir engineering background (academic or/and industry experience) combined with a passion for technology – how it is developed and deployed to improve efficiencies for operators. The role can be based in Paris or in the UK (Oxford or Surrey) and the Company is open to all levels of expertise.

This is a very exciting role with a great deal of variety and scope to grow fast by being involved in a big diversity of projects alongside experts in multiple disciplines.
Reporting to the Reservoir Modeling & Engineering Team lead, your primary responsibilities will be to:
  • Become knowledgeable in the Company’s technologies and services – training provided.
  • Establish yourself as a core member of the Company’s Geoscience Business unit.
  • Become the key focal player for the Company’s Reservoir Modeling & Engineering technologies within the unit.
  • Establish long-term relationship of trust with customers – understand their challenges and drivers with regard to this technology.
  • Independently provide operational user support and optimisation advice to customers.
  • Work on projects in collaboration with experts and end-users from various geoscience domains in Europe and worldwide. You will be at the heart of a tech-company, collaborating with all key stakeholders of innovation.
  • Interact efficiently with all teams (sales team, product owners, etc.) to suggest and execute business development actions for our customers (tech talks, software coaching sessions, etc.).
  • Communicate your passion for great technology and science to the key energy players across Europe
  • Deliver workshops for our customers on site or in a virtual environment.
  • Work closely with customers to ensure they are successfully using the Company’s Reservoir Engineering solutions.
  • Act as a proactive advocate making sure customer requests are development priorities – strive to improve these technology solutions for the future.
  • Build good working relationships with your peers and across the wider company matrix organization.
  • Communicate your passion for great technology and science to the key energy players across Europe
  • Keep abreast of new oilfield technologies and digital solutions in the market – especially in the reservoir engineering domain. Become competent discussing these with customers with the ability and confidence to highlight advantages of the Company’s solutions.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an Earth Science subject essential – a degree in petroleum engineering desired
  • A min of 3+ years of oil and gas experience essential – either in a technical support, training or consultancy role.
  • Experience in reservoir modelling or/and reservoir engineering essential.
  • A strong background in production geology highly desired.
  • Passion and skills for geology and reservoir engineering essential.
  • Knowledge or experience of reservoir engineering software solution (assisted history matching, post-processing of flow simulations, ensemble simulations) essential
  • A strong work ethic - based on a desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Ability to engage in consultative discussions with clients, establishing needs and opportunities essential.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload essential
  • Excellent communication skills –oral (comfortable on the phone and video-conferencing) and written essential
  • Fluency in English (both verbal and written) essential.
  • French language skills advantageous.
  • Experience using reservoir engineering technologies highly desired (e.g. Tempest suite and/or RMS is a plus).
  • Highly customer focus essential – experience in building customer/partner relationships desired.
  • High interest in technology and its deployment essential.
  • The technical aptitude to grasp quickly the challenges and rewards of leading-edge technologies
  • Be a team player with good communication skills
  • You are able and ready to travel up to 50% of the time (mostly Europe) - travel is generally for shorter periods, but longer assignments may be required
Other Information
Package: A Base Salary of £35K - £50K (40K-60K Euros) is on offer depending on skills and experience plus an attractive Benefits Package.
