An advanced Seismic Acquisition Solutions Company providing leading products and services to the oil industry seeks a Business Development Manager to take responsibility for generating business for seismic products and services. Focusing on the European market, you will develop relationships with key executives in major Oil and Gas Companies to promote and sell new business opportunities. Applicants are invited with a minimum of 5 years business development experience preferably in the seismic marine sector, combined with entrepreneurial skills and the ambition to take advantage of the impending positive landscape of the oil and gas industry. As the role has a European remit, you will be required to travel around 25% of your time. With high value Marine and Ocean Bottom Seismic services, there is great potential to realise a high remuneration package.

This global Company, which has been established for many decades, provide acquisition systems and an integrated family of products addressing 2D, 3D and 4D seismic surveys in land and marine operations. Services are delivered by expert personnel and backed up by an extensive library of software tools and sophisticated web based delivery mechanisms.

Their integrated approach of technologies and services focuses on improving E&P decision-making, enhancing reservoir management and optimizing offshore operations. Their ability to anticipate customer needs and provide tools, which deliver dramatic efficiency improvements and operational cost savings, makes them a leading player in this highly competitive seismic acquisition market.

The Company has a matrix organisation and you will work closely with VP’s assigned to various business sectors. You will have responsibility for various products and services and will pass other leads to the relevant VP’s. You will be supported throughout by highly experienced personnel across business development, marketing and administration. Reporting to Vice President – Europe his role encompasses many functions such as:
  • Become competent in the Company’s suite of solutions, services, work flows and practices.
  • Build good working relationships with peers across the matric organisation.
  • Build strong relationships of trust with existing and new clients globally.
  • Schedule regular agent and customer visits.
  • Develop new customers for the Company’s marine products and services.
  • Become the key go-to-person for your assigned products/services within your geographical remit.
  • Generate ideas and proposals for multi-client products, rank the priorities and ensure they are understood and can be evaluated within the Company portfolio.
  • Secure Oil Operator funding for joint projects in conjunction with business unit stakeholders.
  • Coordinate activities within the Company in order to develop the market for the Company’s products and services throughout Europe – you will be supported by the Marketing Team.
  • Identify, develop, and manage, integrated opportunities for all products and services for multi-client projects.
  • Work closely with the strategic marketing function to:
    • Research and share competitor information to build the value proposition.
    • Create and maintain a directory of potential data vendors within Europe and their global databases of 2D & 3D surveys.
    • Collect prioritized product/service requirements and communicate them to Business Units/Marketing Director.
  • Identify customer needs and present integrated seismic solutions, through a technical understanding of seismic data acquisition, data processing, interpretation and/or reservoir characterization.
  • Work with Oil Operators that are ultimately responsible for licensing decisions, to obtain underwriting for the Company’s geologically driven 2D multi-client programs and their non-exclusive projects (3D) primarily focused in the European region.
  • Develop Sales presentations and ensure material consistency across all Business Units.
  • Understand and align your strategies to host government oil and gas authorities, to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Engage with data holding agencies to agree upon data reprocessing variables.
  • Monitor progress of processing and reporting to internal customers within the vendor sales exclusivity period. Define deliverables/scope of work and reporting and royalties.
  • Understand and promote opportunities for partnering that would provide successful outcomes.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts as required.
  • Be proactive in promoting the Company’s marine products and services that add value and quality to the businesses of current and prospective clients.
  • Strive to promote awareness and reputation of the Company and its offerings.
  • Keep abreast of trends and challenges across the global seismic acquisition sector.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or business related field desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years in sales/business development within the oil and gas industry essential.
  • A proven track record in articulating value propositions to global E&P client companies with the ability to devise and communicate geophysical solutions essential.
  • Big picture individual essential – who understands the market in terms of current solutions, appreciates the challenges facing the industry and can brainstorm in converting ideas to viable business solutions.
  • A technical background in seismic data processing and the direct sales and marketing of geophysical exploration products and services highly advantageous.
  • Influential – can promote their own ideas for future products and services.
  • Experienced negotiator highly desired – must have the ability to close both service and product deals.
  • Entrepreneurial – ambitious to exceed revenue targets essential.
  • Seismic Domain knowledge essential – ability to promote integrated seismic solutions including seismic data acquisition, processing, interpretation, and reservoir characterization is key.
  • Proven experience selling across European markets desired.
  • Outstanding presentation skills – ability to devise materials that exploit positive outcomes is key.
  • Self-motivated to pursue resources and gather needed information and decisions to complete tasks assigned.
  • Strong communication skills – the ability to assimilate complex information and articulate this to a variety of stakeholders, through a range of methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential - ability to build strong relationships with both Oil Operators and contractor personnel to promote use of Company technology and solutions.
  • Strong Team Player – ability to work effectively across a matrix organisation with players who have shared client relationship management.
  • Understanding and comprehensive experience of Account Management processes essential.
  • Ability to forecast sales targets and manage to goals.
  • Must be able to make decisions and adapt to changes within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem solving skills – the ability to solve issues and adapt with little guidance.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Travel as required to meet sales objectives.
