An advanced Seismic Acquisition Solutions Company providing leading products and services to the oil industry seeks a VP for Business Development for their global 3D Marine and OBN services. In this senior level role, you will take responsibility for seeking, creating, and developing new business for these services. Applicants are invited with a minimum of 10 years business development experience in the seismic marine sector, who are entrepreneurial with high ambition to take advantage of the impending positive landscape of the oil and gas industry. As the role has a global remit, you will be required to travel around 25% of your time. With high value Marine and OBN services, there is great potential for an entrepreneurial individual to realise a high OTE

This global Company, which has been established for many decades, provide acquisition systems and an integrated family of products addressing 2D, 3D and 4D seismic surveys in land and marine operations. Services are delivered by expert personnel and backed up by an extensive library of software tools and sophisticated web based delivery mechanisms.

Their integrated approach of technologies and services focuses on improving E&P decision-making, enhancing reservoir management and optimizing offshore operations. From industry leading survey design software and cutting-edge data processing and imaging to reservoir characterization services and fully-integrated OBS solutions, they have earned an enviable reputation. Their ability to anticipate customer needs and provide tools, which deliver dramatic efficiency improvements and operational cost savings, makes them a leading player in this highly competitive seismic acquisition market.

The Company has a matrix organisation with VP’s assigned to various business sectors. In this global role, you will take responsibility for driving new business for proprietary and multi-client marine seismic surveys and ocean bottom (OBC, OBN) services. You will do this through direct efforts and through the management of regional business development teams. You will be supported throughout by highly experienced personnel across business development, marketing and administration.
Reporting to Senior Vice President of Ventures this role encompasses many functions including:

  • Become competent in the Company’s suite of solutions, services, work flows and practices.
  • Take responsibility for the Business Development of the Company’s Global 3D Marine and OBN technology portfolio.
  • Build good working relationships with operations and business development teams globally. Become the key go-to-person for your business sector.
  • Build strong relationships of trust with existing and new clients globally.
  • Provide visible and ongoing product line leadership to global Business Development teams.
  • Define and implement strategies that will drive new business globally – either through direct efforts of through effective collaboration with regional business development teams.
  • Prepare pricing and bids for proprietary and 3D Multi-Client services.
  • Prepare pricing and bids for Ocean Bottom Services (OBN and OBC).
  • Liaise and manage effectively with the bid preparation teams involved.
  • Supply clients with requested information on all aspects of the 3D Marine OBN, both general services and specific technical information.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to oil and gas clients.
  • Manage the communication with clients regarding follow up on pricing, billing, and technical issues pertaining to the services.
  • Prepare pricing and bids for commercial opportunities that are a strategic fit for the Company’s technology portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the Company’s Operations division and other Regional Business Units to effectively manage timely and accurate development of technical and commercial proposals in response to Invitations to Tender.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts to stakeholders.
  • Be proactive in promoting services and technologies that add value and quality to the businesses of current and prospective clients.
  • Strive to promote awareness and reputation of the Company and its offerings.
  • Keep abreast of trends and challenges across the global seismic acquisition sector.
This role can be based out of the Company’s UK office.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or business related field essential.
  • Minimum of 10 years in Sales/Business Development within the seismic marine business essential.
  • Experience having revenue growth responsibility across a matrix organisation highly advantageous.
  • Global remit expertise highly advantageous.
  • Entrepreneurial – ambitious to excel revenue targets essential.
  • Self-motivated to pursue resources and gather needed information and decisions to complete tasks assigned.
  • Strong commercial acumen – the ability to devise, monitor, manage and communicate sales plans and forecasts effectively.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills – you will present to high level Explorationists and decision makers within oil and gas.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a product line within a matrix sales and business development organisation is key.
  • Influential and experienced negotiator.
  • Must be able to make decisions and adapt to changes within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem solving skills – the ability to solve issues and adapt with little guidance.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both oil company and contractor personnel to promote use of Company technology.
  • Must be able to travel.
