Overview
URGENT A major Oil and Gas Operator seeks a Data Solutions Architect to develop, recommend, and establish a data platform architecture for Subsurface and Reservoir Development data. Applicants are invited with a strong background in delivering solution architectures for complex solutions across business, technical, and data architecture domains. Experience within the upstream oil and gas industry highly desired but not essential. The key is the ability to develop and deliver appropriate data structures. This is a 12 month contract working for a major oil operator.

The scope covers Subsurface and Reservoir Development data management processes, applications, interfaces, technology and data. Data covers transactional, master and reference data, at the conceptual, logical and in many cases, the physical levels.

The Solution Architect will be working with other data architects within the IT organisation, information owners in the business, as well as solution development teams, delivery teams, solution managers, business representatives, and various IT&S teams within the Upstream segment.

 
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Upstream Subsurface and Res Dev Senior Business Architect, this role encompasses many functions including (but not limited to):
  • Existing baseline architectures and features of products are expected to be reviewed and assessed in terms of data structure. Recommendations and best practices to be suggested.
  • Where possible solutions to be defined with the PPDM model in mind
  • Review business requirements and future data state architecture and product a gap analysis
  • Advice on future technologies (in relation with data stores) that subsurface should consider /benefit from
  • Develop conceptual and logical architectures for static data as well as data on the move (data lineage)
  • Build awareness of other workstreams that are delivering capability around data e.g. data lake, integration, data market place and recognize where subsurface data could leveraged
 
Preferences
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
  • An academic background in IT, Data Management or Systems highly advantageous.
  • Experience in delivering solution architectures for complex solutions across business, technical, and data architecture domains.
  • Experience working with and managing outcomes for global IT, architecture, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional, technical integration and data requirements specifications.
  • Experience reviewing impacts on existing and developing architectures and proposing suitable architecture solutions.
  • A strategic outlook. Previous experience developing multi-year architecture strategies, transitional architectures and associated roadmaps for complex and business critical areas.
  • Experience working with multiple vendors and internal IT teams in order to provide architecture coverage at all stages of a program, and across all technical, functional, integration, data, and infrastructure components.
  • Proficiency in general architecture concepts, including:
    • Data design
    • Data modelling (e.g. ER/Studio)
    • Integration design (including Managed API, message based)
    • Cloud (Azure
